Shah Rukh Khan’s Ra.One saw a tremendous response at the box office over the five day long weekend.
As per information available with Businessofcinema, the movie’s Hindi version garnered net collections of approximately Rs 800 million (Rs 80 crore) in India in its first five days. On the other hand, the Tamil and Telugu dubbed versions of the movie brought in approximately Rs 45 million (Rs 4.5 crore) taking the total to 845 million (Rs 84.5 crore).
Salman Khan’s highest grosser ever Bodyguard, which also saw a five day extended weekend, saw net collections of approximately Rs 866.1 million (Rs 86.61 crore).
In the overseas, Ra.One garnered collections of Rs 327.5 million (Rs 32.75 crore).
Ra.One opened across more than 4,000 plus screens worldwide (3,100 plus screens in India and 904 prints internationally, including 3D, Tamil and Telugu).
It must be kept in mind that with the Eid holiday coming up next week and no other major film release, Ra.One stands to have a good extended run at the box office yet again.
Ra.One has made 92 cr, which is the total figure including overseas collection. In india it has earned 80 cr whereas bodyguard have grossed 84.5 cr.
Many fake reports have been circulating showing Ra.One as the most grossing film in India. There were reports that Ra.One earned more than Bodyguard in the first day. Later it was found that those were fake reports. Now similar reports have been circulating over the internet and in media which are showing completely wrong figures.
But the fact remains that Ra.One should atleast collect 200 crores to call it an average because the production cost is above 200 crores. Around 175 crores have been spent alone for the movie. More than 15 for online promotions alone. Highly ambitious music launch, media promotions, etc have also raised the budget for sure. If the film collects atleast 200 crores, the film will not be a flop.
