Motorola launched their latest flagship phone under their Droid series called Motorola DROID Turbo. This is a 5.2 inch phone comes with the latest specifications and is 8.3mm thin and weighs 176 g
Display & built
DROID Turbo features a 5.2inch AMOLED display with Quad HD (2560 x 1440) resolution with 565 ppi. It is one of the smallest display with 2K resolution making it the sharpest display out there, and it is ported by Gorilla Glass 3 on the top.
In terms of design DROID Turbo sports a metal trim bezel outlining the sides of the phone. The DROID Turbo is available in two bodied options: metalized glass fiber (MGF) and nylon fiber. Metalized glass fiber exhibits a rubbery feel just like the older DROIDS and the new nylon fiber one has an attractive look and has a more natural, fabric feel to it. As like any other Mototrola DROIDS, DROID Turbo’s rear casing features ultra-strong Kevlar fiber and also the phone is covered by water-repelling nanocoating, to protect it from the occasional liquid spillage like 20 minutes in rain etc.
Specifications
Under the hood it features Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 805 (APQ8084 ) clocked at 2.7GHz processor with 600MHz Adreno 420 GPU along with 3GB RAM. It has 32/64GB internal memory and doesnot comes with external storage.
Camera
It features a 21MP rear camera with an aperture of f2.0 and it is equipped with Dual LED flash . It can capture 4K videos and 24fps too. The front camera is a 2MP unit that can capture 1080p videos
Software
It runs on the latest Android 4.4.4 Kitakat with near stock android along with a line-up of smart features by Motorola. These are Moto Display, which wakes up the phone and displays the time and notifications when you reach for it; Droid Zap, Zap Zone, and Zap to TV for easy sharing of pictures and videos between friends or TVs with Google Chromecast; In addition, the Moto DROID Turbo benefits from Motorola’s contextual awareness and natural language processors to deliver always-on voice control, gestures, and automated information and actions according to your current location or data collected by the device’s sensors. For example, the phone detects you’re driving to work and automatically quiets notifications and gives directions. Since it is Verizon exclusive some of the Verizon bloatware will be also present.
Battery
This is one of the features most manufacturers don’t give much importance but Motorola gave up the idea of very wafery thin phone to provide with a huge 3900mAH battery. Motorola claims 48 hours of battery life and when you charge DROID Turbo with the Motorola Turbo Charger, you get up to eight hours of power in a quick 15 minutes when you need it the most the feature which was introduced by OPPO mobiles.
Connectivity
It features all the top end connectivity features from faster 4G LTE CAT/ 3G HSPA+, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac/b/g/n, Bluetooth with A2DP, GPS to NFC.
Pricing and Availability
Motorola DROID Turbo comes on October 30, it will be available with two storage options at Verizon.com. The 32GB DROID Turbo in Metallic Black, Metallic Red or Ballistic Nylon will be available for $199 with a two-year Verizon contract and the 64GB version available in Ballistic Nylon will be $249 with a two-year Verizon contract.
