Abhinay turns down Magadheera remake

Recently, filmmakers Anurag Kashyap, Vikas Behl and Vikramaditya Motwane’s newly-formed company Phantom bought the rights of Telegu blockbuster Magadheera (2009) and asked director Abhinay Deo to direct the Hindi remake of the periodic-drama. But Deo has turned down the project.

“I felt that this is not the kind of film that I want to make at this point of time. Thought it has been a blockbuster, my mind is in a different zone and not prepared for such a big scale project,” says Deo.

It was rumoured that actor Ranbir Kapoor was to play the lead role in the film. But now, the production house has signed Ranveer Singh for the character originally played by south actor Ram Charan Teja in the historical romantic drama, directed by SS Rajamouli.

Having bagged two awards for Aamir Khan Productions’ Delhi Belly (2011) in this award season, ask him if his next is also under the same banner and he says, “ It’s not with Aamir Khan Productions. Aamir has his hands full at this moment. I will approached the actors once the script is final”.
