A year after debuting in Bollywood with Mani Ratnam’s Raavan, Chiyaan Vikram is all set to do his next Hindi film with Bejoy Nambiar (of Shaitan fame).
The film, touted to be a gangster-comedy, has been titled David and is set for a 2012 release. Meanwhile, we also hear he’s also in talks with Mira Nair and Deepa Mehta as well for possible collaborations.
Talking to CT, Vikram confirms, “I’m doing my next Hindi film with Bejoy Nambiar, and in all probability, it will hit screens in 2012. I can’t give out much on the role, but I’m likely to start shooting for the film sometime next year.”
Interestingly, Bejoy has assisted Mani Ratnam in Guru and both the versions of Raavanan. In fact, the director has earlier said that Mani’s opinions matters a lot to him and had even come down to Chennai to screen his much-acclaimed film Shaitan for the ace director. We hear Bejoy and Vikram bonded while working on Raavanan and their friendship continued even after.
The fact that Vikram could switch between playing the cop and the fugitive effortlessly in the two versions of the film seems to have impressed Bejoy. Sources tell us Vikram made frequent trips to Mumbai in the last few weeks to finalize the script.
Though Bejoy refuses to divulge more details, he says, “I’m currently prepping up for the project. I will be making a proper announcement after I tie up all the loose ends with regards to the film.”
